Bess: Commission

I was commissioned to create this hand-drawn original in soft pastel to capture the essence of Bess, this beautiful, pure white Staffie. Bringing a lovely dog like Bess to life in one of my drawings is always a great honour.

For this portrait, the main challenge was using colour to add detail and texture to her smooth white fur. White subjects can be tricky, as you have to rely on subtle blues, purples, and greys to suggest form and shadow. I focused a lot on making her fur look vibrant and dimensional. I'm pleased with how the tongue came out, giving her expression that perfect, relaxed look.

Pastel art can be delicate, so to ensure commissions you receive are completely protected, they all come professionally framed. Artwork is ready to hang and includes anti-reflective glass. A certificate of authenticity signed by me is also included.
